Responsibilities:

Join our Melbourne Design Studio as an Associate Director specialising in Landscape Architecture. In this role you will play a pivotal role in driving business growth and delivering exceptional design solutions. This opportunity is open to candidates in other locations, but candidates based in Melbourne are preferred.  The Studio works as an integrated team embedding cross disciplinary practice to provide value to our clients and projects. We work across a range of sectors and typologies delivering high quality design thinking across all sectors including including Sustainability, Education, Recreation, Health, Liveable Communities, Civic, Precincts, Tourism, Infrastructure, Industrial, and Green Infrastructure.

Your focus will be on driving a high performing team, fostering client relationships, business development, securing new opportunities, delivering projects, and achieving billing targets to contribute to the ongoing success of our Design offering in the region.

As a key member of the Design management team, you'll also be instrumental in nurturing the growth and development of team members through on-the-job coaching, design leadership, mentoring, and effective people management. Your leadership will help shape a collaborative and high-performing team, ensuring both professional and project success.

  • Provide expertise in landscape architecture across project lifecycles, ensuring creative and practical design outcomes from concept to construction.
  • Lead and coordinate delivery of projects of all sizes, including medium to large-scale.
  • Manage project opportunities, budgets, and invoicing with accurate revenue forecasting and task alignment.
  • Build strong client relationships to generate repeat work and expand professional networks.
  • Support and lead meetings, deliver design strategies, and contribute to team building and business initiatives.
  • Develop team capabilities through coaching, mentoring, and career development, including technical guidance and day-to-day management.
  • Achieve commercial KPIs, including revenue targets, utilisation, and effective project management.
  • Leverage and promote the value of other Business Units to clients, fostering cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Landscape Architecture.
  • Extensive experience in a Landscape Architecture practice within a consultancy environment;
  • Minimum 12 years relevant experience.
  • A passion for the industry, and ambition to advance practice through innovation across design, and business practice.
  • Ability to apply design thinking across project sectors and scale
