The project is situated between an old park and a new housing estate. A lawn’s space under a high voltage power lines has been transformed into a residential park where landscaping solutions are based on principles of ecological engineering. There are designated places for rainwater runoff retention that are created by shaping embankments and basins with vegetation selected for appropriate habitat requirements mimicking wetlands. The starting point for the residential park’s design was to create a natural link between the existing park and a new housing estate. It required a visual consistency of two spaces that exhibited different aesthetics, functions, pragmatic use, and the degree of natural and urban qualities. To achieve that we used the colors of plantings, the hard space and the soft space are coherent with the hues of the buildings’ facades, outdoor facilities and housing estate’s pavers decorations. It brings a sense of harmony. In addition, in the plants’ composition we utilized the principle of gradient. It involves copying the flora from the nearby environment and gradually decreasing its intensity. In this project it is done from both ends. Furthermore the plants were mixed instead of being grouped by species.
